Dele Alli‘s skilful finish vs Manchester United
Welcome along to Thursday’s transfer news live with the latest rumours, gossip and done deals from the Premier League and around Europe. There are a number of top players primed for a move and ready to contribute immediately, but as Manchester United have proven with the signing of Amad Diallo, the best young talents in the world are always on the radar of the top clubs, including Palmeiras wonder kid Gabriel Veron. One of the priorities in the final week of the window will be to shed any dead weight, to streamline the squad and ensure the atmosphere in the group remains as good as possible.
Today’s rumour mill involves Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester United and Southampton in particular, while Danny Ings, who has transformed his career at Southampton, and Nico Barella, Inter Milan’s midfield phenomenon, are the most valuable names doing the rounds over the last 24 hours.
Dele Alli remains out of favour at Spurs under Jose Mourinho and Paris Saint-Germain could offer him a lifeline this month under former boss Mauricio Pochettino, having fallen out of form and therefore out of the picture for England ahead of Euro 2020. PSG of course must be conscious of securing the long-term futures of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, with Real Madrid lurking after the Frenchman resisted signing a new contract.
Manchester United meanwhile could reward Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for positioning the club in the thick of the title picture, though there could be many outgoings at Old Trafford, too, with Juan Mata linked to his former club Valencia.
Mesut Ozil’s move to Fenerbahce, United’s deal to bring in Amad Diallo from Atalanta and Sebastian Haller’s big-money deal to leave West Ham for Ajax rank among the most significant deals of January so far. Follow all the latest developments below.
LINGARD SET FOR UNITED STAY
Jesse Lingard is set to spend the remainder of the season at Manchester United despite attracting interest from Premier League clubs, according to Sky Sports.
Sheffield United were one of the clubs who reportedly held an interest in signing Lingard on loan, however, despite being a bit-part feature under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the club do not want to leave themselves short during such a congested run of fixtures in case of injuries.

BARCA PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES RULE OUT JANUARY MOVE FOR GARCIA
Barcelona presidential candidates Toni Frexia, Victor Fonte and Juan Laporta have all but confirmed that Manchester City defender Eric Garcia will not be signed this month.
The 20-year-old defender is out of contract in the summer and has been heavily linked with a move to the Blaugrana.
But Barcelona’s presidential candidates have held discussions with manager Ronald Koeman and reached a decision.
“It was a cordial conversation with Ronald Koeman to talk about the situation of the team but without him asking us to make this signing. It’s something that will be decided next Tuesday in a meeting with the Management Commission to sign him at the end of the season, which is when he [Garcia] arrives free,” Frexia told Mundo Deportivo.
Laporta added: “There’s been talk of the possibility of signing Eric now paying money. It’s is not viable and we know that City want money. I’m of the position that if he finishes a contract and is interested, he’s signed.”
Fonte, meanwhile, said: “The Management Board wants to close the signing so that at the end of the season he comes. If the operation is done, I’ve asked for a last attempt in case with little money we can meet the coach’s needs, although it’s almost impossible.”

INTER CONSIDER ERIKSEN & TORREIRA LOAN SWAP WITH ARSENAL
Inter are open to a possible loan swap that would see Christian Eriksen join Arsenal and Lucas Torreira move to Italy, according to Tuttosport.
Torreira is currently at Atletico Madrid but has been on the periphery of Diego Simeone’s first-team, leading to suggestions that he could be sent elsewhere for the second half of the season.
Inter are believed to be interested, while Arsenal remain in the market for an attacking midfielder, with Eriksen a potential option.
