Tensions between China and the USA seem to be on the rise. China and the United States have been sparring over a range of issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic. US President Joe Biden announced he instructed his government officials to “double down” on their efforts to identify the COVID-19 origin in China. He had also ordered them to prepare a list of questions that China has to answer about the virus.
Responding to Biden’s orders, the editor Hu Xijin of the newspaper the Global Times at the Global Times, which is a mouthpiece of the Chinese government wrote an article and said, “We must be prepared for an intense war between China and the U.S. The number of China’s nuclear weapons must be increased and strategic missiles that have “long-range” capabilities should also be increased. Nuclear warheads must reach the quantity that makes U.S. elites shiver should they entertain the idea of engaging in a military confrontation with China.” Hu Xijin posted the same comments on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform. So far, the Biden administration has not responded to the article.
